Best Place To Live

Jamaica Plain

There are the obvious reasons why JAMAICA PLAIN rocks our world — the original J.P. Licks, the old Milky Way (moment of silence), and that boho-chic vibe. This neighborhood retains a small-town charm, but is distinctively hip, edgy, and good for you, too (organic is without a doubt the most overused word on Centre Street). Still, there are a slew of not-so-obvious reasons that make this section of Boston the best place to live. JP is only 4.4 square miles — that’s a whole lot of awesomeness packed into one tiny package. Neighborhood residents have been anarchists from the get-go — the area was once part of Roxbury, but the community voted to secede in 1851. And we have always known JP has moxie, but did you know it actually had Moxie? For 25 years, the retro soda was bottled right on Heath Street. Jamaica Plain, we tip our hats to your sass and style.
