Best Clothing Store — Women's

H&M

We’re slightly surprised that a Swedish clothing chain trumped Boston’s many spectacular boutiques for best women’s clothing store this time around (Mint Julep earned second place), but H&M is a titan of a store, with many secret weapons up its sleeve — a vast expanse of a location on Newbury Street, seriously affordable prices, and guest designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, and Madonna. (And, really, who can battle with Madonna?) It’s a killer trifecta for success, especially in this time of economic woe, when a set of sparkling bangle bracelets, a perfect little black mod shift dress, or a coat the color of green Astroturf can help brighten the bleakest of moods for many a Boston woman. H&M is the place to go for that without sliding any further down the credit-card-debt spiral.
