Don't just complain about him being such a desk-potato at his monitor. Don't just argue with him over his consequential declining attention span or over the tragedy of his relying on online reading material. Take him patiently in hand and say you're going to OTHER TIGER, trusting that the ambiguous name of the bookstore will keep him guessing until you get there. Hand him over to the staff, who will gently draw him out, determine his interests, and lead him to the appropriate shelves. Don't overdo it and try to sign him up for a book discussion group right away. Maybe you'd better wait to take him to a reading there by an author.
