Best Fast Trip To Portugal

Gaipo's Meat Market

Browsing and shopping at any of Rhody's ethnic markets can seem like a fast trip through that region. At GAIPO'S MEAT MARKET, it's an extra surprise, since they stress just one section of their store on the sign outside. Inside, there are numerous aisles to cruise, with many items that can be used for cooking in several cuisines, including dried beans in bulk; large bags of sea salt, rice, and cornmeal; a great selection of spices and herbs; dried salt cod in many forms; even the pots and skillets in which to simmer and sauté these ingredients. In the deli case, there are many unusual cheeses and sausages to peruse, including different kinds of linguiça and chouriço. Colorful artifacts, from Portugal and the Azores, such as the painted Barcelos roosters, brighten the shelves in the store and add to the feeling of being transported to a different continent. | 1075 South Broadway, East Providence | 401.438.3545
