Charles River Esplanade
The question is, from what? Lovers? Muggers? Thieves? Inner demons? Scribes from Faulkner to Plath have set suicide scenes on the banks of the Charles, and trying to swim at Magazine Beach is a modern-day exercise in same.

However, when the sun glints off the Charles and you can’t see anything for miles except shiny-faced joggers bopping along in time to their iPods, you know that Boston is truly a lovely place to live, and the CHARLES RIVER ESPLANADE is a prime reason why. The views are gorgeous; colorful sailboats offer an element of postcard cuteness; and the Fiedler statue is a fine place to feign injury in the hopes that a sultry jogger might pause to lend a hand.
