I am convinced that I would be a cooler person if my apartment housed one of Lisa Ferreira’s free-form lamps, crafted from copper wire and handmade paper and sold in Ferreira’s Congress Street gallery. Each batch of paper is a unique combination of dyed Abaca pulp mixed with pine needles, flowers, herbs, and grasses. The results are brightly colored pieces of functional art (with a little eco-chic thrown in for good measure), which Ferreira then turns into hanging chandeliers, floor lamps, or sconces. Right now, they only light up my window-shopping life, but someday, I’ll call one of them my own.
