Like a bad cold, the economy can only really recover on its own time. The more the politicians (including Obama) try to jigger it, the longer it is going to take to really recover. With the bailout, good money is chasing bad. Let natural market forces do their work, and everything will get better sooner rather than later. Obama can only make things worse by intervening, and he's smart enough to know it. But does he have the strength to Just Say No to all those clamoring for a quick fix and a bailout? NO. Because he's just another politician who got where he is by making promises he can't keep.
re: A few more ruminations//thephoenix.com/BLOGS/takebackbarack/archive/2008/12/23/a-few-more-ruminations.aspx#214123Sat, 27 Dec 2008 05:08:36 GMTad053fdd-4c7f-49f6-bf6d-6c53a7e614d5:214123ScottSA
It's interesting watching the left writhe in agony as the hoped for New Camelot turns into the same old Lie-alot. That's Obama's only saving grace - that he lied about what he was going to do...thank God for small favours, anyway.
re: A few more ruminations//thephoenix.com/BLOGS/takebackbarack/archive/2008/12/23/a-few-more-ruminations.aspx#212986Thu, 25 Dec 2008 16:37:46 GMTad053fdd-4c7f-49f6-bf6d-6c53a7e614d5:212986Jon Hartt
Chicago Machine Politics.

"Change you can believe in."

Chumps.

Somewhere, somehow I just KNOW P.T. I voted for Ralph Nader on Election Day and am proud of it. To my knowledge, the Portland Phoenix never once ran a serious story on Nader.

While I'm glad the editors of the Phoenix have finally awakened to the truth about president-elect Obama, I feel like this article is too little, too late. For a supposedly progressive, forward-thinking publication, the Phoenix's 2008 campaign coverage looked suspiciously similar to that of every other corporate media outlet.
re: Catching up and thinking about tolerance//thephoenix.com/BLOGS/takebackbarack/archive/2008/12/20/catching-up-and-thinking-about-tolerance.aspx#210728Mon, 22 Dec 2008 20:55:44 GMTad053fdd-4c7f-49f6-bf6d-6c53a7e614d5:210728AndreaJohnson
Obama and Warren actually agree on the issue of gay marriage so it is not post-partisan tolerance on Obama's part to ask him to give the invocation. So how is asking Rick Warren to be part of the inauguration such a leap for so many?
