Radio Boston goes daily; 'BUR-'GBH heats up

Radio Boston, WBUR's weekly local-news show, is about to become a five-day-a-week affair. As Universal Hub's Adam Gaffin notes, a posting for an executive producer job at Radio Boston describes:

a new, local daily program (five days a week) which will cover a full range of topics, from public affairs and politics, to the arts and economy, from cutting edge culture to the highs and lows of daily life that matter to the WBUR audience.

An associate producer posting, meanwhile, speaks of a show that "mix[es] news and culture and...will be fast paced with multiple subjects and a myriad of voices including listener calls."

That last twist--i.e., the listener calls--is especially noteworthy, since WGBH's midday Emily Rooney Show (disclosure: I'm an occasional paid contributor) has been eschewing listener call-ins. (The Callie Crossley Show hasn't, however.)

Earlier this year, I wrote that the WGBH-WBUR competition will be a boon to listeners, even though it may pose fundraising challenges for each station. This development is certainly good news.
