HEAVY MUSIC-METAL ACT in
PORTLAND
Triple ententeWill Broadbent, Ed Cunningham, and Ross Markonish are about to celebrate Ogre's 10th anniversary. In that time they've released three acclaimed albums and built a rabid international fan base with their vintage brand of metal. Possessing an encyclopedic knowledge of heavy music and a combined record collection that could fill a house, their influences run so deep their songs could easily belong to some band that toured with Ted Nugent or Black Sabbath in 1977 and were never heard from again. Their lyrics, however, betray their modernity: "Soldier of Misfortune," a track from 2006's Seven Hells, chronicles a Vietnam soldier's gruesome death, only to watch, from the afterlife, his grown nephew fight an equally ill-conceived war in Iraq. German label Iron Kodex Records is releasing Ogre's discography on deluxe vinyl later this year, loaded with bonus tracks and expanded artwork so you can celebrate Ogre's 10th in true vintage style. | myspace.com/Ogre
