Rage Against the Machine back in the early 90s
On a Tuesday night in 1993, Rage Against the Machine were little more than a buzz band on their first headlining tour for their homonymous major-label debut. At that point, the band had essentially no radio play, but they drew about 500 people to the Paradise anyway. They had the songs, the politics, a great rhythm section, guitarist Tom Morello’s arsenal of wah-wah and turntable impersonations, and charismatic vocalist Zack de la Rocha. The crowd knew the words, and when de la Rocha, after his between-song rants against capitalism, led them in sing-alongs to such subtle hooks as “Fuck you — I won’t do what you tell me,” he’d celebrate the metal-guitar release with two or three long bunny hops across the stage and a heedless, breathtaking back flip into the mosh pit.

The 40 greatest concerts in Boston history: 40
I agree with most of the top 40. I would say that the Rolling Stones playing at Sir Morgans Cove in Worcester in September of 1981 should probablly be added to that list, perhaps in the top 10. There was also an Aerosmith show with Mad Angel and Duke and Drivers in 1975 at The Westboro Speedway that was also a very special show and one of the first "big" shows Aerosmith played (they talk about that one in their book, Walk This Way)

Oh wow, so many great shows that didn't make the list... The Ramones at The Channel, 1990 or 91. Totally destroyed what was left of my hearing and I was black and blue from being bounced around the crowd. Lollapalooza 1. Ice-T blew the roof off when he stunned the crowd when he brought out his thrash band Body Count. Living Colour. Henry Rollins. Nine Inch Nails. And of course Jane's Addiction at the pinnacle of their career. Aerosmith/Run-DMC/Kid Rock at Great Woods. Stanley Jordan at Nightstage around 1989- every axe slinger in Boston was there watching with their jaws on the floor, unable to believe what they were seeing and hearing.

I have been going to and photographing shows since high school ( a long time ago). Some concerts that stand out right now are; the rolling stones at the manning bowl in lynn - they had drag brian jones off of the stage the police at the paradise sold out for three nights the doors - cream (not together) at the back bay theater - no longer there prince at avalon iggy pop at the harvard square theater - david bowie was playing piano on that tour - blondie opened for him - across town at the rat the runaways had a show and came to the iggy pop concert first then iggy pop and david bowie went to their show As more shows come to mind i will post them. Two notes. The who at the music hall wnet on for 5 nights. The evening that rod stewart showed up, daltrey hit the roadie with a mike stand. After that he jumped into the limo and demanded to be flown back to england. Townnsend sang the rest of the show. One more ineresting thing the led zepplin show at the old tea party - after the 3rd encore they started palying beatles songs. that's all for now
