Lowell Celebrates Kerouac Festival

downtown Lowell

There's a giggling irony in Lowell's fervent embrace of Jack Kerouac, a man most famous for persuading people to leave places like Lowell. Nonetheless, the Lowell Celebrates Kerouac Festival is back. This year's edition commemorates the 50th anniversary of the publication of Dr. Sax, with historic tours, poetry and novel readings, live music, and lectures about all things Kerouac scattered about downtown Lowell | October 1-4 | free | www.lowellcelebrateskerouac.org.
