One of the sweetest developments on the Boston jazz scene of late has been the first-Sunday residency of the Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra at Johnny D's. In the past, the 19-piece JCAO has limited itself to occasional concerts at venues scattered far and wide around town. The Johnny D's gig gives their impressive corps of writers (David Harris, Jim Hobbs, Darrell Katz, Bob Pilkington, Warren Senders, Norm Zocher) a chance to develop new material - and revive some oldies - in consecutive shows.
