The thing on the right is an internet superstar | Abobo has to be one of the more bizarre stories in video game histories: a level boss with a cult following, one born out of ironic humor in the tradition of such other internet phenomena as Snakes on a Plane and Carl Monday. Abobo, the first, fairly easily handled boss of Double Dragon, has his own website (it hasn’t been updated in four years, though). And he’s been shoehorned into other games. Why? Because he’s funny-looking. He’s a grotesquely muscle-bound bald man with a huge mustache and no shirt, and his head kind of looks like a space alien’s. And that’s all it takes. - Ryan Stewart |
