If you asked people in the Boston rap community what they consider the best local hip-hop venue, they’d probably be split between the likes of Church and the Middle East, both of which keep the genre pumping in this city. Thing is, they’d probably be debating the issue at the Good Life, where resident DJ Knife and his rotating cast of local deck deviants — Leah V, On&On, Frank White, 7L, you get the point — provide the closest thing Boston rap has to a home base. Add in the fact that legends from Jeru to Peanut Butter Wolf drop in for regular DJ sets, and it’s no wonder this is Boston’s go-to trap for boom-bap.
