Even someone who didn't love the jokes would have to admit that the cast has chops. These actors require the triple-threat talents of acting, singing, and skating. Every actor spends the entire show on roller skates, and they make it look easy — even when they have to climb up and down Oberon's catwalk stairs (the stage has ramps built on, but those balcony stairs can't be adapted). The only trouble with the ensemble is that one cannot watch every actor's face at once; each of the 10 actors involved in the production has a comedic gift for bizarre facial expressions, shown off best during the "Skating Is Sexy" song — it turns out skating isn't that sexy. Roller Disco the Musical!'s creators plan to take the show to New York after its Boston run ends; here's hoping they take a few of these cast members with them, since the show's contagious fun is due in large part to their special chemistry.
