TOP FIVE MOST RANDOM THINGS REPORTED STOLEN AT HARVARD UNIVERSITY
1_ A PIECE OF CAKE On the evening of December 5, someone allegedly swiped a piece of cake from the dining area in Lehman Hall. The sweet-toothed suspect got nailed with a trespass warning.
2_ A MINI-FRIDGE On December 9, just before 11 am, a caller reported watching a ne'er-do-well cut through a chain in order to filch a $50 mini-fridge on the opposite side of a university housing building's fence. Odd that someone went to such trouble to swipe something most people would have assumed was garbage.
3_ SOMEBODY'S DINNER A "plate of food" that apparently looked tasty enough to steal — and call the cops over — was reported pinched at the Widener Library on December 14 sometime around 6:30 pm.
4_ SOMEBODY'S TENT Well before sunrise on December 4, officers on Peabody Street reported noticing two conspicuous persons running by, brandishing a tent. One of the persons admitted the tent wasn't theirs, before being sent to a medical facility for unspecified reasons. The report does not say where the tent was stolen from, but let's remember: stealing stuff from Occupy Boston was easy. It has never been easy to steal from L.L. Bean.
5_ A FOOD-MEASURING SCALE Someone allegedly lifted a $30 scale from the Adams House dining hall on the afternoon of December 12. He or she really needed to weigh something.
BONUS: A CAUTIONARY TALE FOR THOSE WHO LIKE TO WAVE THEIR NAUGHTY BITS AT PEOPLE WITHOUT PERMISSION
Near a Harvard Square kiosk a little before 10 pm on November 11, campus police reported observing an individual who had exposed themselves to a passer-by, and was punched out by the (apparently unimpressed) exposee. Cambridge Police took over after officers apprehended the naughty-bits waver. The puncher was presumably high-fived and sent on his or her way.
