Review: You Again

Weaver, Curtis are solid enough (also Betty White is in this movie).

In this wildly uneven comedy from Andy Flickman, sleek PR exec Marni (Kristen Bell) has finally buried her geeky high-school history. But it flares up like her old complexion when her brother (James Wolk) announces his engagement to the evil cheerleader (Odette Yustman) behind Marni's adolescent agony. Days before the nuptials, bully and victim reunite, though Joanna, now more angel than asshole, professes no memory of Marni — who's just not buying it. Flashbacks of the hazing go down like meta-torture, as Bell overacts and the clichés stack up. Yet relief arrives in the form of two other former teen rivals: Marni's peppy mom (Jamie Lee Curtis, set free from her yogurt cup) and Joanna's cosmopolitan aunt (Sigourney Weaver). Curtis aces her slapstick bits, but it's Weaver, rocking a wrap dress and raising an eyebrow at the suburban inanity, who proves the funniest blast from the past.
