Slow ride

By JEFF INGLIS  |  August 15, 2007

Also, sadly, not in the film is the human drama that likely unfolded in the SUV, which Caldwell is grateful he avoided, with “the hazard-light noise going the whole time” — moving 10 miles an hour for 100 days. (It probably helped that two of the three people in the truck were siblings — twins, actually. And there was a dog along for entertainment.)

The response to the film so far has been encouraging. Various film festivals, such as the Toofy festival in Boulder, Colorado, the Solstice festival in St. Paul, Minnesota, and the East Lansing festival in Michigan, have proffered awards. There have also been angry and disappointed e-mails from people who claimed to have had the idea “first,” though they never acted on it.

Here’s fair warning: for the next trip, “we might ride llamas,” Caldwell says. It’s hard to tell when he’s joking.
