Hardcore legends DROPDEAD drop by AS220 on FRIDAY (the 24th) with acclaimed PVD duo THE BODY (Pitchfork just bestowed an 8.5 on their debut), along with WORK/DEATH and SOUL CONTROL; call 401.831.9327 for ticket availability. SANTA MAMBA heats up the new Met Cafe ($10, 401.729.1005), and the 201 hosts a pair of CD release parties this weekend — THE BROTHER KITE celebrate their great new disc Isolation, with support acts WOOD FOR FIRE, BLUE RIBBON, and ACADEMIA ($5), and on SATURDAY (the 25th), CARMINDA ROCHA will headline behind her new Solitude Remains, with VANBRONSON and WOLVES opening ($6, 401.454.4581 for details on both shows).

Start your stacked Saturday downtown at FUSION FEST (2 pm at Grant’s Block, free admission) with live music from BIXIT, SYNERGY, and THE RICE CAKES, along with a beer garden and kids’ crafts to keep you and the tykes occupied all afternoon. VALIENT THORR, HOWL, JUNIUS, and SHE RIDES will decimate Club Hell (401.709.3923), ANGRY FARMER fire it up at the Spot Underground (401.383.7133), and expect a jam-packed house at Firehouse 13 (401.270.1801) for JOE FLETCHER & THE WRONG REASONS (we’ve been waiting patiently for this White Lighter record, Fletcher), with special guests BROWN BIRD, SAMUEL JAMES, and M.G. LEDERMAN. And how about the sick ROCKTUCKET lineup on tap Saturday, including POORLY DRAWN PEOPLE, BIG RUSH AND CHACHI, OLNEYVILLE SOUND SYSTEM, and MAHI MAHI, and potent 75orLess Records reps GIRL HAGGARD, THE JESSE MINUTE, and the mighty, theremin-infused madness of MING TORO. Rocktucket (on Main Street in Le Bucket) kicks off around 2 pm, with plenty of local grub and suds available all day and night. Oh, and it’s FREE (w/ suggested donation at the gates).

Wow. An eclectic lineup follows on SUNDAY (the 26th) at the Fall Out of Summer Fest in Cranston’s Rolfe Square, featuring ERIC FRENCH & MR. HYDE, GLOBAL CRASH, TONY JONES & THE CRETIN 3, and many more, all for $1 (visit artists-exchange.org for details). That’s right, a $1 entry fee, and kids under 12 are free The fun kicks off at 11 am. And on WEDNESDAY (the 29th), politically-charged singer/songwriter PAMELA MEANS will visit the Speakeasy at Local 121, call 401.274.2121.
