Brighton Music Hall | May 16, 2011
We caught tUnE-yArDs (ticket window sign: 'SOLD OUT, No tickets will be released') show at Brighton Music Hall on May 16th. Openers were Montreal's Pat Jordache, whose lead singer used to collaborate with tUnE-yArDs' Merrill Garbus), and Brooklyn's Buke and Gass (named for the duo's instruments - a modified baritone ukelele and a guitar-bass hybrid).
A very enthusiastic audience welcomed tUnE-yArDs to the stage, and proceeded to dance, jump, and sing along throughout the entire set and encore. Crowd favorites included 'Bizness,' the first single from new album 'whokill,' and 'My Country,' during which a near moshpit of ecstatic dancing broke out in front of the stage. Garbus, who seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the show, remarked 'You don't seem like a Monday night crowd!' and declared it maybe her favorite time in Boston ever.
