BRENDA were featured on the online program Serious Business, a NY-based show that airs on Break Thru Radio (breakthruradio.com). The band were in peak form, offering frank talk about divergences in their musical taste, the resurgence of the piano organ, and how often they fight with each other. They also played a couple tracks ("Girl Don't Grow" and the awesome "Boxy Music") from their forthcoming record, which looks to be a burner in the highest order. Serious Business also recorded episodes with SUNSET HEARTS and THE MILKMAN'S UNION this season, so local rock fans should have plenty to keep them busy. Visit blip.tv/seriousbusinessbtr.

• Alt-country group GUNTHER BROWN have launched a Kickstarter to help them raise $3100 toward supporting their forthcoming full length and tour. Their promotional video is a bold choice, featuring affable singer Pete Dubuc sinisterly holding a baby polar bear hostage (he's kidding, of course) while exhibiting exactly none of the band's deep, earth-driven country-folk, live or recorded. We wish them the best in securing the funds but would have liked to hear some more music attached to the mission. Either way, GB record their new album at the end of January, and hit the east coast in March.

DOMINIC AND THE LUCID are taking their name reclamation seriously. As if repenting for having toiled in epithetical obscurity for awhile as merely the Lucid, the band prepare to play their first two records, Waging the Wage and Season of the Sun, in their entirety January 27 at the Big Easy, their first show in Maine with the new (old) name. Usually, it's enough of a feat to play one album all the way through, but considering the schizophrenic self-identification, two might be most appropriate after all. See them with progressive folk band LIT ON THE FLASH.
