For the absolute worst in Brown/Rihanna coverage, look for Billboard's "An Open Letter to Rihanna: It's Time To Talk That Talk." Though I agree with its thesis — that Rihanna is sending a terrible message to her fans — the execution is nauseating. It oscillates between creepy flattery ("You drop immaculately produced ballads like 'California King Bed' after parent's-worst-nightmare fetish anthems like 'S&M' without batting a beautiful eye") and condescending paternalism ("We, like you, all want to let our individuality shine — to know who we are, and just be ourselves — but in this one instance, we need your message to be perfect").
I can't blame Rihanna for her reaction on Twitter: "Chiefin' while ppl spend hrs on latters . . . *kanye shrug* #phuckit"
