BOULDERITES Alex Finkel, Anna Sawyer, and Alice Warren-Gregory

During a late-night car ride, three friends from Boulder, Colorado, began regaling each other with stories, as people trapped in a car for hours are wont to do. They were magical, picturesque, back-to-the-land, farmer-chic tales, with stolen kisses behind bales of hay and . . . Justin Vernon, the man of great beard and thousand-yard gaze behind the band Bon Iver.

Thus, BONIVEROTICA.TUMBLR.COM was born. The Tumblr went viral after two days, proof that all anyone secretly wants in this life is a cabin in the country, dinner from the vegetable garden on the porch, and mornings spent lounging with your lover in handspun wool blankets.

We present to you the three geniuses behind this sun-dappled fantasy world: Alex Finkel, the lone-wolf male of the trio, is the co-founder of two startups and a self-described "passionate Saturday-morning bike-rider and creek-jumper." Alice Warren-Gregory is an attorney who loves macaroons, and Anna Sawyer, who lived in Boston for six years (she says she still "longs for the peanut-butter burger at Bukowski's and has nightmares about the T"), works in marketing for a tech startup.

WHY BON IVER? DO YOU THINK THEY READ IT? Justin Vernon strikes us as a salt of the earth kind of guy who also happens to be deeply in touch with his feelings (and ours and probably those of all living creatures). He knows his way around a woodpile, but he is vulnerable, tender, precocious. He loves the natural world, creating with his hands, and giving pleasure. He is just as likely to be found riding his tractor as writing poetry near a mountain stream. He is wood-scented and bearded. His favorite food is pie. Any kind. And we're pretty sure he reads it.

WHAT'S THE CLOSEST ANY ONE OF YOU HAS COME TO HAVING AN ACTUAL BON IVER EROTIC MOMENT? WITHOUT BON IVER, OF COURSE. OR, MAYBE WITH BON IVER... We draw inspiration from our lives, as all writers do. While we may not spend every Sunday morning gathering wildflowers in a sparkling meadow as the sun reveals our form through a diaphanous gown, we do live in a place that is full of natural beauty. As true Boulderites we spend a lot of time getting knees scratched by alpine rocks and noses burned by the sun. And each of us is lucky enough to have a great deal of love and caring in our lives. Though, we are all single, so line up, world!

DO YOU HAVE FAVORITE ENTRIES? As with children, all of our entries are our favorite! We workshop them together, and there are equal parts hysterical laughter and awed silence. Also, hugging. And Googling odd things - our Bon Iver Erotica-related Google searches would make an amazing McSweeney's list.
