• In our review of the 48 Hour Music Festival (by Andrew Frederick, February 27), the third drummer of VICIOUS BLOW was misidentified. He does not share a name with the late vocalist of INXS, but is instead MICHAEL C. ANDERSON, drummer for Loverless, Johnny Cremains, Adam Kurtz — and Vicious Blow.
• Pianist/composer FRANK CARLBERG releases his new The American Dream with a show at Woodfords Church April 23. We like Frank, and would mention that anyway, but let's say we were encouraged by one of the more breathless pieces of promotion we've read in a long time. Here's a sample: "The American Dream is a jazz suite cum political cri de coeur built around 12 short poems by the late ROBERT CREELEY. The poems have been situated by Mr. Carlberg in musical contexts that extend and enhance the linguistic economy and emotional candor that characterize much of Mr. Creeley's greatest work." We also like: "The quintet, with utmost confidence and éclat, re-animates Mr. Carlberg's visionary approach to and interpretation of Mr. Creeley's impeccable poetries." Can you do that with poetry? Make it plural? We thought it was one of those collective-noun thingies, like water and sand.

• MAINE RECREATION AND PARK ASSOCIATION is sponsoring the 13th annual ENTERTAINMENT SHOWCASE on Friday, March 27, from 9 am to 3 pm at Windham High School. • PARMA RECORDINGS, in addition to having one of the fanciest newsletters we've ever come across — beautiful classical accompaniment as you browse through a digital magazine, really sublime — has also scored (ha — classical joke there) a distribution deal with NAXOS, which is kind of a big deal in the classical world. They also make note of the fact that their RICHARD STOLTZMAN recording will be included with Windows 7. And we suppose that's a pretty big spot to get, but we'd, personally, be embarrassed to be associated with a MICROSOFT product. They're icky. Getting back to the good news, Parma also acquired CAPSTONE RECORDS, a classical label that's been around since 1986, with roughly 200 records in the catalog. Capstone honcho and composer RICHARD BROOKS will join Parma's board and stick around in an advisory role.
