The debut of Diplo and Switch's 23rd-century dancehall project MAJOR LAZER was the big draw at the House of Blues on Thursday, but don't ask us to pick a favorite: we can't remember the last time someone put together top-notch DJs like A-TRAK with headline-level indie-rockers like MATT AND KIM, but we sure wish more liquor companies would spend their money on shit like this. Are Animal Collective a jam band?
Like many white males in their early 30s with slowing metabolisms and dorkish concerns, I never really got what the big fucking deal was about Animal Collective. I was turned onto them years ago by a friend at an old workplace; he had better taste in music than me.

For Longstreth, the pressure's been ratcheted up following the online leak a couple of months ago of Dirty Projectors' fifth LP, Bitte Orca (Domino) which is finally, officially out this week.
