I’ve still got the rock ‘n’ roll all over me from Saturday night. Portland’s music scene turned out by the vanful to hear the last set list of the Alehouse’s five-year stint on Market Street. Eldemur Krimm, the Pubcrawlers, and Covered in Bees performed the last Alehouse rock — and it couldn’t have been better. Eldemur frightened, the Pubcrawlers broke out the beer tunes and bagpipes, and Covered in Bees stung us good night.
Just as the Alehouse has supported local music — and club owner Russ Riseman says it will rise again to continue (see “
Two Weeks Left for the Alehouse
,” by Sara Donnelly, August 4) — local musicians supported the Alehouse by turning out for one last show. Members of The Hot Tarts, Aepril Schaile and the Judgment, The Peepshow, King Memphis, Lost Cause Desperados, The Hi Fivin’ White Guys, The End of Everything, The Horror, By Blood Alone, Moses Atwood, Loverless, and The Dirty Secrets sang along to celebrate and lament.
