DOWNLOAD: Henry Santoro reports on Theo Epstein's wedding (mp3)
Citing a source within the Epstein family this morning, during the Swasey Show on WFNX 101.7FM, News Directory Henry Santoro blew the cover off what can only be considered a gaffe by Boston Globe reporter Gordon Edes ( Listen to it here.)
Santoro reported that the press release Edes cited was not verified, and was written by Leslie Epstein, Theo's father, as a prank. The story was quickly picked up by the Associated Press and circulated throughout the country, again, without being verified.
The wedding did not take place on Coney Island outside of Nathan's Famous hot dog stand, presided over by an orthodox rabbi, as reported by Edes. The wedding instead took place on Red Sox owner John Henry's personal yacht in a private ceremony off the coast of Florida.
Santoro contacted AP and AP has since pulled the story.
