Astute readers will notice that the 225-week-plus streak of local-music reviews by SAM PFEIFLE has ended with this week’s issue, but he’ll be back shortly, we hope. Sidelined by an unexpected hospital stay, Pfeifle had to call in “sick” for the first time since his “wife” had a “kid” back in 2003.
Apparently the guy named in the previous item had been promising KATE SCHROCK a review of her latest album, Invocation, which she'll be promoting at One Longfellow Square on February 2 with local poet RICK CROCKETT. We'll have to take a rain check on the review, but suffice it to say you should check out the show.
Last month’s issue of VIBE downplayed a local artist, but gave him some love all the same. Portland hip-hopper O*ZEE was named Maine’s “Best Undiscovered Rapper” in the “America’s Next Top MCs” issue. Twelve were highlighted with longer profiles; O*Zee was listed in small print under the headline “And The Rest...” but we’re proud all the same. Vibe says his “hottest line” is “When I spit, I’m sure to drop like gravitational pull.” Set aside your physics-nerd nitpicking and check out his sound at
