Guest lists 2010: Phoenix critics weigh in on the year in music

LISTED: Crystal Castles made a few of our critics' lists - with some help from a (legendary) friend.

If there is any indication of how schizophrenic 2010 was when it came to music, look no further than the Boston Phoenix critic’s picks. Never mind sharing a common Number 1 -- few artists overlapped at all throughout each writer’s Top 10, proving that while music in 2010 lacks a common denominator, it has perhaps never been this fertile. So while we over the past few months we were treated to cute novelty items as the “Double Rainbow” song and Sleigh Bells, geriatric indie wash-ups like Arcade Fire and Kings of Leon, and Cee-Lo’s facepalm of rebellion dubbed “Fuck You,” none of that nonsense elbowed its way into our year-ends picks (though we are alarmed that a fair share of Die Antwoord has spring back up from its July grave). Here are the jams, albums and mixes that got our writers through 2010:
