re: Is No On 1 loss due to Obama?
The Obama/DNC voter lists would not have helped. The No On 1 campaign had full access to the Maine Democratic Party's voter lists, and in Maine state-party voter lists have always been much, much more accurate than those of national groups. Obama & the DNC might have been able to do more to help, but not with lists.

Elliott,
Obviously No on 1 voters were less likely to watch TV, unlike the Yes on 1 proles.

You never know; out in California in 2008, it ironically was the swell of Obama supporters who tipped the scales towards outlawing gay marriage. Of course, the voter demographics are a bit different in Maine *cough*.

I am more interested in why the No on 1 campaign raised twice as much money, but the Yes on 1 people seemed to run 2-3 times more TV commercials.

So can we assume on 11/4/2012 he'll come out in favor of SSM? Not exactly a profile in courage, is he?.

Yes, it's cynical. And pragmatic. He's running for re-election, and has been the moment he was elected. No one's going to be elected president proudly supporting gay marriage; everyone is just going to wait until it happens so they don't have to be pilloried for it. The ends justify the means.

Holy crap, get over yourselves! You lost a political battle for chrissakes and political battles are often nasty and brutish. Try growing a pair Jeff and going back into the fray.

re: Morning-after thoughts
So he doesn't "lose votes"? He's not running for anything! That's awfully cynical of him, don't you think? How do you like your hope and change now?

re: Morning-after thoughts
No he's not. He just says that so he doesn't lose votes.

re: Morning-after thoughts
I will say it again: Barack Obama is officially opposed to same sex marriage. Why are you surprised that a majority of Americans feel the same way? And why don't you ask Barry why he feels that way?

re: Last chance to see Anna with Gypsy Tailwind?
Blazing beauty hits the nail squarely on the "head". By the way dan and Derek were wrongly characterized and falsely accused throughout this blog. Further, Dan Connor is a great songwriter who has helped so many local musicians throughout his music career, Anna in particular. Derek Lombardi has also had a history of helping people and doing the right thing. So, Portland... Don't buy into this BS.
