Herald layoffs: credit where it's due

In a post yesterday, I implied that the Boston Globe was the first to report the Herald's big upcoming wave of layoffs. In fact, the Boston Business Journal got there first--last Friday, to be precise. My apologies.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Newspaper Conference is now involved.  Nobody knows what this means for the Herald or its production/delivery employees at this point.  But the situation is sure to be complicated, with some of the work leaving a union shop for a non union shop, some leaving for a union shop, and some (sunday inserts) leaving the state entirely.  also independent contractors and sub contractors have been put on the table for delivery.
