Coakley beats the Boston press

Interesting point to ponder in the wake of Martha Coakley's big win in last night's Democratic primary for US Senate: Coakley cruised to victory despite getting no endorsement help from Boston's print media. Remember, the Boston Globe (along with the Worcester T&G, its corporate sibling) endorsed Alan Khazei. And the Herald and the Phoenix went for Mike Capuano.

Outside of Boston, though, Coakley fared far better. Yes, the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune backed Steve Pagliuca, and the Lowell Sun said all the Democrats sucked. But Coakley got the nod from the Berkshire Eagle; the MetroWest Daily News and its smaller affiliates; the New Bedford Standard-Times; the Quincy Patriot Ledger and the Brockton Enterprise, its sister publication; the Springfield Republican; and her hometown daily, the North Adams Transcript.

Call me zany, but I've got a hunch Coakley will do a bit better in Boston in the final. But how much love can Scott Brown expect from the non-Boston papers that backed Coakley this time around? (I'm pretty sure the Lowell Sun will be saying nice things about his candidacy.)
