Big Week for Boston Comedy
A lot of funny to look foward to this week:
* The second annual AltCom! Alternative Comedy Festival runs from Thursday-Sunday featuring some of Boston's finest comedians/musicians/category straddlers (including this year's The Phoenix Best winner MC Mr. Napkins), who'll add local flavor to an all-star national act lineup that includes Janeane Garofalo, Rob Riggle, Eugene Mirman, the Upright Citizen's Brigade Touring Company, and The Onion. For showtimes, tickets, and venues, visit www.altcomfestival.com
* Mortified,
a "comic excavation" of all the angsty crap we created as kids, makes
its monthly appearance on Thursday, May 7. Watch a lineup of brave
souls read their pathetic teenage journals and poems to an audience of
drunk and sympathetic strangers. Show is at 8pm at Mottley's in Faneuil
Hall. Visit mottleyscomedy.com for tickets.
* Area native John Pinette headlines at The Wilbur on Saturday, May 9
* Joe Wong hosts "Boston's Longest Open Mic" at Dick Doherty's Comedy Vault
