Weekend comedy picks
Fine, it's not technically the weekend but the
ImprovBoston QueerQomedy Festival (not a big fan of the spacebar, those improvisers) kicks off tonight, running through Sunday, 6/28. (See site for ticket prices and show details.) Featuring stand-up improv, sketch, drag, and special appearances from Becca D'Bus, 86-years-young
Mary Dolan and UnAmerika's Sweetheart Karin Webb from
All The Kings Men!
Speaking of Boston's favorite drag kings, Mary Dolan and UnAmerika's Sweetheart Karin Webb heat up the Cambridge YMCA with near-naked cabaret Boiling Point Burlesque on Saturday, 6/27, featuring performances by Big Moves, The Boston Hoop Troop, and 2009 Best winners The Steamy Bohemians and Babes in Boinkland. Two shows, at 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm. $15 advance/$20 at the door.
Like many skyrocketing comedians, Mike Dorval got his start in the belly of Boston's comedy clubs. He's back (sort of) on Friday, 6/26, 8 pm at The Orpheum Theatre in Foxboro. Tickets are $15/$10 for Foxboro residents.
As always, the Comedy Connection at the Wilbur Theatre brings their A-game this weekend. Friday 6/26 at 7:30 pm, catch Jamie Kennedy, and Saturday 6/27 homegrown alt-com hero Eugene Mirman and zany lady Kristen Schaal cast Flight of the Conchords to the wayside (for a few hours, anyway), taking the stage at 7 pm to do back-to-back stand-up sets. See site for ticket prices.
