'Arrested' Movie In Development

We'd heard whispers that an Arrested Development feature length film was in the works, but we hardly dared to believe it. Then, a curmudgeonly David Cross went as far as to say it flat out wasn't going to happen, a statement Jason Bateman refuted. In today's film industry, the most successful television show adapted for film features four menopausal sluts gallivanting across nations in age-inappropriate couture (and, in the case of Sex and the City 2, culturally offensive/insensitive couture.)

Who, then, would risk making a movie out of a series that barley eked out three sparsely watched seasons before being canceled? Someone who enjoys hilarious shenanigans and irreverent humor, that's who. Plus, since being unceremoniously yanked off the air in 2006, Arrested has developed a dedicated cult fan-base, many of whom discovered the show as a sort of diamond in the DVD rough after the fact. (On that note, we'd also be pleased to see a My So Called Life film someday. We know none of those folks, save Claire Danes and bleach-hawked Jared "30 Seconds to" Leto, have seen much in the way of work lately.)

If this trailer, composed of a mash-up of past clips, we found is any evidence, an Arrested movie is so on. Further evidence is the film's IMDB page, which slates the film's release date for 2011, Martin Short and (possibly) the always-clever Judy Greer will make appearances. Like the aging Lolitas of Sex and the City, the Bluth family are clearly moving on to bigger and better things...though we guess with better jokes and less wrinkled cleavage.
