Meet the Mayor: Guitar Center
Welcome to "Meet the Mayor," a segment in which we interview local Foursquare Mayors in their natural habitats.
Guitar Center
King Harry
Why are you the mayor
here?
I have a company called Shattered Glass Audio. We produce
amps and stompboxes for musicians at a lower cost, and I've been talking with
the general manager, the staff, and some of the musicians here to test out some
of the products.
So you're a king and
a mayor. Would you ever want to be a president?
That would be too much. You can't please everybody all the
time, but you can absolutely please and help the people around you. Now, would
I like to be the Dalai Lama? Absolutely. A leader, not a president. One of my
favorite mottos: "A smart man believes half of what he hears. A wise man knows
which half to believe."
Is that an English
accent I'm detecting?
I am English.
What's that like?
It's different. My first couple years in the US were a bit
hard. There's a serious language discrepancy I encountered. A "rubber" in the UK is an
eraser. Here, a "rubber" is a prophylactic. Making the first mistake in attempting to correct for that didn't go so well.
