Meet the Mayor: ImprovBoston Green Room
Welcome to "Meet the Mayor," a segment in which we interview local Foursquare Mayors in
their natural habitats.
ImprovBoston Green
Room
John Serpico
It smells interesting
in here.
It's the smell of comedy, and lots of people seeing comedy. Maybe snacks.
It's not the smell of
comedy or snacks. It's new-car-ish.
Okay. Well, we're fairly new in this space. I think we've been here two or
three years now. ImprovBoston used to be in a tiny theater in Inman Square. We
went from having five or six shows a week to having almost 25 shows a week.
Hmm. You don't think
it's a little irresponsible to be making jokey time with so much pain and
suffering in the world?
Well . . . I think of it on a karmic scale,
y'see. There is tremendous pain and suffering in the world, and we need to
offset that somehow. Plus, it's a lot easier for people to show up at a theater
and make their fellow man laugh than to kayak across the ocean where there is
pain and suffering and help it - although, we may do that one day. It'll be a
very funny rescue mission.
Freddy Got Fingered: one of the funniest movies of all time, or the
funniest movie of all time?
The funniest. I feel like I'm a better person for having
seen that movie.
