Cops arrest zero people at Boston’s annual pot rally

Marking an incremental, mostly symbolic, but still notable victory for New Englanders who love to smoke weed, the BPD reports that they did not arrest a soul at MassCann's ludicrously well-attended and collectively-baked 22nd annual Boston Freedom Rally on the Common this past Saturday. The BPD did not give an estimate of the grand total of attendees, but it was clearly well into the thousands.

According to a Boston Globe report I just Googled, only two arrests - for intention to distribute - were made at the 2010 Rally.

Back in '08, Massachusetts voters approved scaling back the penalty for possession of an ounce-or-less of the sticky green stuff to a $100 civil citation. This year, a pair of partiers were issued summonses to appear in court, and 38 tokers presumably got careless and found themselves nailed with one of those $100 citations. On the bright side, that's $3800 the state can hopefully use to lock up people who like to do murders and rapes and steal stuff. Y'know, real criminals.
