Meet the Mayor: Haley House Bakery Café
Welcome to "Meet the Mayor," a segment in which we interview local Foursquare Mayors in
their natural habitats.
Haley House Bakery
Café
James Harder
So why are you mayor
here?
It's very close to where I work. They make Organic Love
Buzz, which is the best coffee in the world; and it's a nonprofit, which is
nice. It is my understanding that some
of the staffers here are going through a job-training program.
Hmm. Helping people
get jobs isn't funny. Can you think of anything that is funny?
Well, you'd never guess what my nickname here is. When I
first started coming here, they asked me my name, and I said, "LL Cool J." I
don't know why. Maybe because we resemble each other so much. Ha ha. And it
just kind of stuck.
Won't the real LL
Cool J sue you for trademark infringement?
I don't see that happening.
List the ways this
place is superior to chain coffee shops.
It's one of a kind. It's got better coffee. It's friendlier.
It's got a cooler vibe. It's Roxbury. It's got quilts on the walls one month,
photographs another month, and If you come in next month, it'll probably have
work from another local artist. There's an eclecticity here .... Is that even a
word?
It should be.
