With this issue, the Providence Phoenix is dropping "Dr. Lovemonkey," the advice and relationship column written by longtime freelance contributor Rudy Cheeks.
The action comes after a reader emailed the Phoenix, pointing out that an item in last week's column was substantially similar to an entry in Emily Yoffe's "Dear Prudence" column in Slate, the online magazine.
When asked by Phoenix editors about the similarities, Cheeks admitted to making use of Yoffe's work without attribution.
The Phoenix notified Slate of the incident and apologized.
Cheeks, who is also part of the Phillipe & Jorge team, will not be contributing to the "Cool, Cool World" column for the next four issues.
