You write about Olympia Snowe’s “crystallizing doubts about the war”. All she’s said is that what we are doing isn’t working.

She’s as likely to push escalation as anything else — assuming, of course, she cares whether it works or not. What she cares about is suckering voters and editors.

We’re pushing a million killed in Iraq with her complicity. And you write about her integrity? A senator who enables Frist, DeLay, and Bush? Moderate?

Sharp eyes
On a recent flight from Portland to JFK airport in New York, I had unintentionally kept a small Swiss Army knife in my handbag. It was well concealed — under a lot of my personal belongings.

And, it was detected by an alert person at the X-ray station in Portland, Maine, and confiscated. Congratulations Portland, as the knife had not been discovered earlier at JFK.
