IndieArts mania!

So much to do, all at once
By PROVIDENCE ARTS STAFF  |  July 15, 2009

Head down to the Greenwich Hotel THURSDAY (the 16th) and lounge with local acoustic troubadour DANIEL CHASE and Boston's SARAH BORRELLO (her piano-driven cover of "White Rabbit" is insane); never a cover and always 21+, call 401.884.4200 for more. Further south at the newly-revamped Knickerbocker in Westerly, THE HOOLIOS deliver roots-rock, call 401.596.4225 for details.

On FRIDAY (the 17th), the Blackstone has nice local action with ROUTE .44, CARMINDA ROCHA, and Boston's 66 BREAKOUT, and head back to the Bucket on the 18th for THE SCHEMERS with SEXCOFFEE and LESS THAN A FELONY, call 401.726.2181 for info on both shows. Also on Friday, KRIS HANSEN'S LEFT HAND BAND, featuring Bob Giusti, celebrates the release of its new disc, The Kollective, at Firehouse 13, with their pals Mark Cutler, Spogga, and more. Call 401.270.1801.

SATURDAY's big news would be the 2nd annual INDIEARTS FEST invading Kennedy Plaza: three stages, two dozen artists, and 11 hours of free music starting around noon at Burnside Park, including top-shelf acts TRIANGLE FOREST, POORLY DRAWN PEOPLE, SENSITIVE HEARTS (formerly the Awesome Bros.), and CHINESE STARS, to name a few. RSVP at IndieArtsFest.com and receive a free MP3 bundle of IndieArts artists. And did we mention admission is FREE all day? Later that night, beeline to Jerky's Bar for Wu-Tang's resident criminologist RAEKWON, heading down after his daytime slot at Rock the Bells at Great Woods . . . er, Comcast Center. Local turntablist CR THE BEAST opens, call 401.621.2244.

On TUESDAY (the 21st), the JOHNNY LINGO BAND hits McFadden's (401.861.1782) for a freebie with ERIC FRENCH. AS220 is the place to be WEDNESDAY (the 22nd) when Jared Paul's PRAYERS FOR ATHEISTS (first punk act signed to Strange Famous Records) headline a CD release party with fellow locals ROZ RASKIN & THE RICE CAKES and MOWGLI opening. Paul has plenty to vent about; the $10 cover includes a copy of the excellent Sage Francis-approved EP. Call 401.831.9327.
