WHY THEM? This violent bass-and-drums duo was forged in the same town that gave us Godheadsilo, which, as reference points go, is a good place to start. (Never mind that these Fargoans deny sounding like their forebears with a Wayne’s World–ian “Not!”) Furthermore, this twosome rocks seasick noise-core like nobody’s business, and kicks into bruising one-two hardcore with raw scraping vocals whenever it feels right. (“Several Hours” has multiple passages where the music stops for what sounds like an exploding braying donkey.) For grumps who still work at record stores, Chlamydiot is proof positive that there still exist groups with steel wool for guts who can live up to (and even out-pummel) the gnarliest Am-Rep ancestors. Plus, they named their band Chlamydiot. BONUS BIT! Chlamydiots Ricky Tick (bass/vocals) and Tambo (drums) have been, according to their MySpace page, “riding the coke train to hipsterville since 2008.”
