Drugs to watch out for

ROHYPNOL
Street Names: Roofies, Roach, Rope

Effects: A sedative causing drowsiness, confusion, impaired motor skills, dizziness, disorientation, impaired judgment, slurred speech, difficulty standing, and loss of consciousness. When combined with alcohol Rohypnol often causes amnesia, loss of consciousness, and can cause a coma or death.

Delivery: Many manufacturers are including a blue dye in the pills now that turns any liquid they are put in blue, but colorless pills are still being manufactured.

Background: Rohypnol is illegal in the US. It is legally manufactured in Europe and Mexico, making it relatively easy to come by.

GHB (gamma-hydroybutyrate)
Street Names: Liquid E, Liquid Ecstasy, Liquid X

Effects: Has a euphoric or sedative effect. Can cause a slowed heart rate, drowsiness, difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, coma or death.

Delivery: Most often sold as a liquid or crystal power. Liquid is clear and odorless.

Background: Because it is often homegrown and the dosages are unreliable, it is very easy to overdose. GHB has been illegal in the US since the 1990s.

KETAMINE
Street Names:
 Special K, Kit Kat, Purple, Black Hole

Effects: Causes dizziness, confusion, hallucinations, impaired motor skills, and can cause fatal respiratory failure. Can cause amnesia. Sometimes someone who has ingested Ketamine will remain conscious but be unable to move.

Delivery:  Ketamine can be a liquid or a powder and can be easily slipped into drinks.

Background: Ketamine became illegal in the US in 1999.
