In honor of our Cocktails issue, we polled some staffers to find out their favorite local libations and the watering holes that serve them up. After you've worked up a thirst reading, click here to enter to win a gift certificate to Temple Bar, plus a basket of goodies for your own home bar.

    Name: Erica Corsano
    Title: Editorial Director
    Favorite Drink: The Ginger Margarita
Where it’s poured: The W Boston's "Living Room" bar
Why she loves it: It’s the perfect blend of sweet, tart, and spicy, and it warms me up in just a few sips. Oh, and it also turns me into a hugging-obsessed lush. Spread the love.

    Name: Jacqueline Houton
    Title: Managing Editor
    Favorite Drink: The Ardoise
Where it’s poured: Craigie on Main
Why she loves it: The stellar bartenders here have been majorly expanding my cocktail horizons, even getting me to try drinks made with bourbons, scotches, and other burly liquors that I steered cleared of before. When I'm in the mood for something sweet (but not saccharine) though, this sage-scented riff on a gimlet is my standby — it's perfectly balanced, made with organic vodka, and dangerously tasty. Seriously, this stuff goes down like lemonade.

    Name: Scott Kearnan
    Title: Staff Writer
    Favorite Drink: Burnt Orange Martini
Where it’s poured: Bar 10 at the Westin Copley Place
Why he loves it: Alas, this delish drink was recently removed from its cocktail list, but you can usually still get it from the savvy bartenders. It's a balance of Hennessy, Chambord, and Grand Marnier, garnished with an orange — so strong but so smooth. If you're too self-conscious to be "that guy/girl" ordering off-menu, every drink on the list is amazing at the most over-looked hotel bar in Boston, a cozy spot that's always playing deep house lounge music. Heaven!

    Name: Michelle Benfer
    Title: Sales Director, Integrated Media
    Favorite drink: Van Helsing
    Where it’s poured: Church
Why she loves it: The best Bloody Mary ever! Steak seasoning on the rim of this homemade vegetable-infused vodka martini wakes me up Sunday mornings and keeps me ordering more than I should on this day of rest. They get my brunch business purely for this drink.

    Name: Luba Gorelik
    Title: Sr. Account Executive
    Favorite Drink: Gloucester Street Martini
    Where it’s poured: Cafeteria
Why she loves it: It’s a smooth & flowery yet pretty strong mix of St. Germaine elderflower liquor, Sauvignon blanc, and gin. For me, it’s just a perfect drink to relax with and enjoy each sip. Yummy! And it's not too sugary — love it!

    Name: Sean Weymouth
    Title: Integrated Sales Director, PMCG
    Favorite drink: Frank’s Old Fashioned
Where it’s poured: Last Hurrah inside the Omni Parker House
Why he loves it: It’s a classic but with a homemade (literally homemade by Frank himself) "secret" twist. Simple, vicious, and delicious.

We all know the choppy waters of modern life are treacherous, and it takes every navigation trick in the book to keep from capsizing in the briny deep. Of course, we're speaking metaphorically here ... but surely it couldn't hurt to keep a real compass and spyglass handy? So you'd do well to snap up a nautical-themed charm from One Luv -- or, even better, win one in our special giveaway.

As we pointed out in this week's issue of Stuff, One Luv offers meticulously handcrafted jewelry pieces with captivating backstories. Their new "Seafarer" collection is an homage to adventure on the high seas, paying tribute to Robert Louis Stevenson's classic Treasure Island. Dangling from a gold-plated chain, Billy Bones' Compass (Bones, if you recall, bears the mysterious map that kicks Treasure Island's booty hunt into high gear) has a brass finish and "always points North so you never lose your way." And then there's Blind Pew's Telescope. Named for the buccaneer who chased Bones to England, this silver-finish telescope has a frame that unfolds and collapses, and its little lens actually magnifies -- meaning it's a spyglass you can actually spy with. Who cares if the only buried treasure you'll be finding is the lost change scattered underneath your couch cushions? One Luv's little beauties are an X-marks-the-spot-worthy find unto themselves.

To win a Billy Bones' Compass or Blind Pew's Telescope of your own, click here.
