Our sources tell us that U2's secret Boston show will take place March 11 at . . . the Somerville Theater.
The band previously announced a three-city mini-tour of small venues, including LA, Chicago, and Boston. Tickets have been given away by local radio stations -- including WFNX, which gave away its last pair this afternoon -- but the venue has up until now been a closely-guarded secret.
Multiple sources confirmed this evening that Boston's gig will transpire at the Somerville -- the only small disappointment being that the band couldn't arrange a return to the Paradise, the site of their first-ever Boston show. Also, everyone who bought tickets to the Wailers show at the Paradise on the 11th -- on rumors that U2 would be playing -- are hereby delivered their shipment of fail.
Good luck getting tickets. If you can't, a bunch of local radio stations will be live-broadcasting the set. And WFNX will be re-broadcasting the Boston secret show -- as well as the secret gigs in LA and Chicago -- on (when else?) St. Paddy's Day beginning at 7 pm.
