RNC things that make you go Hmmmm

 http://burningbosom.wordpress.com/2008/03/04/gospel-questions-from-an-8-year-old-girl/

A day after Sarah Palin ridicules Obama and glides past her own hard-right positions, how can John McCain credibly say that the time has come to move past partisan politics?

Speaking of Palin: the prevailing meme among critics when a strong woman happens to be a Democrat is that, at minimum, she's some kind of uppity bitch. So how comen when the woman is a Republican, her putative strength is celebrated?

McCain's military service, particularly his experience as a POW, is unimpeachable. Yet isn't there some irony in how some of the same GOP supporters who now trumpet his military credentials had no problem with the slimy effort that transformed John Kerry from war hero to wuss?

After McCain's halting delivery last night, it's clear that Palin is vastly superior in the public-speaking department. But after George W. Bush won plaudits as the kind of guy with whom you'd want to have a beer, is America going to move a bit beyond personality-based politics?

"personality-based politics" -- Isn't that what has driven Obama's meteoric rise? Isn't it his story, his public persona, his speeches, that has brought him to the position where he currently finds himself?

I don't think it's his legislative accomplishments. I don't think it's his record of bipartisanship. I don't think it's his judgement or vision on how to win in Iraq.

Can't we just admit that politics -- whether it's big city or small town, and on both sides of the aisle -- are all personality-based?

To me, it all comes down to trust.

There's still too much I don't know about Mr. Obama, though I love his VP choice.

Mr. McCain has been there. He's been on the right, he's been on the left. Just being mentioned as John Kerry's running mate in 2004 speaks volumes for the respect he carries in the senate. But 2000 may have been his time.

The fact is, I still don't know who I'm voting for, and my cynicism tells me that either way, it might not make a difference. More money is going to be taken out of my pocket, we'll continue to lose our standing globally and government is going to become more restrictive, bloated and divided by partisanship.
