Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector

Pity poor Joe Pantoliano

KEEPING PEOPLE FROM CRAPPING: Larry the Cable Guy, Health Inspector.Red-hot redneck comedian Larry the Cable Guy (Daniel Lawrence Whitney) stars in this hamfisted comedy about a nimrod health inspector who must chase down a case of the shits that’s sweeping the city. There’s plenty of foul play afoot as Larry consumes moon pies and farts his way from one fancy French bistro (no jacket required for the “Git-R-Done” guy who’s always in his trademark sleeveless flannel shirts) to the next checking out epicurean delights tainted with rat feces and Visine. The acting, as well as the direction by Trent Cooper, is stilted, yet through it all, the hillbilly huckster who describes his job as “keeping people from crapping on themselves” and confuses homeopathy with homophobia manages to endear. Much of that’s due to his oddball chemistry with his by-the-book partner (Iris Bahr) and dewy-eyed love interest (Megyn Price). Poor Joe Pantoliano, Kid Rock, and Joanna Cassidy get mixed up in the flatulence.
