We take one lousy long weekend, and then apparently everyone decided yesterday was going to be "premiere your new stuff" day. Sheesh...

Sonic Youth, "Sacred Trixter" (mp3)
"Sacred Trixster" appeared on Matador's blog yesterday, and it's quite awesome. It's a fairly straightforward punk song sung by Kim Gordon, bolstered by new bassist Mark Ibold. Sonic Youth are getting up there in age, but they sound rejuvenated by the move to Matador. Between this and "Calming the Snake," we'd say The Eternal is shaping up quite nicely.

Clipse featuring Kanye West, "Kinda like a Big Deal" (ZShare)
Re-Up Gang Records' site premiered what they are saying is the first single from the forthcoming Clipse album 'Til the Casket Drops. It sounds angrier than most of Hell Hath No Fury, and Kanye's appearance - really, are we surprised he wanted to get in with these guys? - is nowhere near as distracting as it could have been.
