[sxsw interviews] On Austin streets with Penguin Prison + David Wax Museum + Funeral Party + Bodega Girls

Hey look, another SXSW post! As we continue our never-ending task of uploading all the shit we shot down in Austin a few weeks ago, I decided to round up a batch of my unedited Drunken Man on the Street interviews with a host of notable performers. Let's start this off with Chris Glover, better known as PENGUIN PRISON, who talks outside High Rise PR headquarters at Moonshine Patio about, among other things, being an electronic funk musician in a sea of jaded indie rock hipsters. On a shitty sidenote, later that day Penguin Prison's set was nixed after someone stole their bass guitar from a back area of Malverde. Not cool.

In the above clip I caught up with David Wax and Suz Slezak from Boston's beloved DAVID WAX MUSEUM after their gig at the Barbarella on... um... I don't even remember what day it was. But we found a "green" rest area and chatted about Mexican folk and playing 200 shows a year.

After their lightning-bolt set at the Phoenix's First Contact party, I grabbed FUNERAL PARTY vocalist Chad Elliot and asked him about their dance-punk single, "NYC Moves To The Sound of LA," which, you know, is pretty fucking true since the Dirty Apple apparently just discovered the electro banger like six months ago. Sweet. (Also, props to the legendary Dan G for his steady Flipcam handiwork in this here clip.)

Closing this Meh Series off is the infamous street-corner chat with BODEGA GIRLS about their stage mishap at a Das Racist show... you know... before getting the Perez Hilton party shut down after crashing the stage during Dirty Vegas' set. Still a fun watch.
